Haas was one of the first business schools in the nation to offer courses in entrepreneurship and business creation.

Within the Haas School's Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation are two nationally prominent business plan competitions founded by Berkeley MBA students:

The UC Berkeley Business Plan Competition is among the top university competitions in the nation for quantity of prize money and participation by Silicon Valley venture capitalists. The Global Social Venture Competition is aimed at aspiring entrepreneurs who can offer solutions to social and environmental problems while demonstrating a healthy business model.

The Center also offers the monthly Berkeley Entrepreneurs Forum, an evening lecture series with venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, and business leaders.
