Loan Disbursements

Loans are disbursed in two equal amounts (one disbursement per semester) from the financial aid system over to the Campus Accounts Receiveables System (CARS). In order for your loans to disburse over to CARS, you must first do the following:

  1. Return all requested documents to the Haas School's Office of Financial Aid
  2. Accept the Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan offer
  3. Complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN)
  4. Complete the Online Entrance Interview
  5. Enroll in at least 6 units for the semester (this is done for entering students by the Student Services Office)
  6. For Grad PLUS Loans, you must have returned the Grad PLUS Request Form to the Haas School's Office of Financial Aid and completed a Grad PLUS MPN
Once all of the above requirements have been met, the loans will disburse* over to CARS and be credited towards any outstanding University-related fees. If there is any amount remaining from the loan disbursement, a refund will be issued to you. We strongly recommend you sign up for the campus' Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), so that any refunds can be sent directly to your bank account.

Billing and Payment Services (BPS) processes refunds on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; a refund typically takes 72 hours to process (a refund that is processed on Monday will be available to the student on Thursday).

*Disbursements from the Financial Aid System occur on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings. Once the disbursement to CARS has occurred, it takes 24 hours for CARS to update and reflect the disbursement information (a disbursement made on Tuesday evening will not show in CARS until Thursday morning).
