International Business Fellowships 2008
The Clausen Center commends the following Haas Students for their commitment to international business and policy as shown in their past, present and future endeavors. We will highlight the work achieved this summer, upon their return to school in the fall.
Dung Dao - BA 2009 is pursuing his undergraduate degree in Business Administration, with a Global Management Concentration. This summer he will be attending the HPAIR (Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations) Business Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The conference will provide Dung with opportunities to engage with a select group of both undergraduate and MBA students, as well as distinguished leaders from all over the world. He hopes to work in China in marketing or management upon graduation.
Michael Martin - MBA 2009 has traveled to more than 25 countries. In addition to his MBA candidacy with concentrations in MOT and global management, he is pursuing a Certificate in Terrorism Studies with a concentration in maritime security from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. This summer he will be attending the HPAIR (Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations) Business Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Martin hopes to gain an understanding of business trends in Asia. In addition, Martin is very involved in volunteer work, having led four Habitat for Humanity - Global Villages teams to El Salvador, Ecuador, India and Honduras.
Brandon Purcell - MBA
2009 has a diverse background, having worked in the financial sector in New York, as well as a Peace Corps. volunteer in Benin. He came to Haas to synthesize the two aspects of his professional life. This summer, he plans to travel to Ethiopia to meet with traders and employees of the new Ethiopian Commodities Exchange. He also plans to visit the warehouse where the commodities are stored. Ultimately, Brandon hopes to replicate such a commodities exchange in West Africa, and is evaluating the ECX model to determine if it is the right type to use in West Africa.
