Microfinance Conference

November 18 & 19, 2004

Professor Muhammad Yunus, Founder and Managing Director of the Grameen Bank and John Hatch, Founder of FINCA headlined an impressive list of speakers and panelists with experience from many different facets of microfinance.

The conference is not simply a celebration of the successes of microfinance. It will also address the challenges faced on both the demand side and the supply side of the market for credit amongst the world's poor and low income individuals.

On the evening of Thursday, November 18, the Center will be hosting a dinner at which participants can discuss microfinance with the speakers and panelists. Each speaker will "lead" a table and participants may join the table of their choice on a first come, first served basis. The conference itself takes place on Friday, November 19. Speakers and panelists will not only present their views, but will also respond to questions from the participants.

The number of participants at the event has been kept relatively low in order to foster a maximum of interaction and discussion.
