Minimum Grade-Point Average (GPA)
The Haas School has high expectations of its students. Your academic standing can affect your eligibility for exchange and certificate programs, and other activities. To be considered a student in good standing, you must maintain certain performance standards, as described below.

Units and Course Loads
|
|
| |
To graduate, you must complete 51 units with a grade point average of at least 3.0. This includes completing all core courses with a C- or above. All courses taken within the Haas School and used for your MBA candidacy must be taken for a letter grade, except for courses offered only on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory (S/U) basis.
You may not take more than six units in departments outside of Haas without prior approval from the MBA Program Director. Only two units of Student-Initiated Courses (MBA294) will count toward your MBA degree. In addition, students entering Fall 2007 or later may count no more than nine units of Non-Standard Courses towards the degree.
Typically, you will take 14 units in your first semester and 12 or 13 units in each of your next three semesters. In your first year, you may take elective courses in the place of any core courses that you waive.
You must enroll for at least eight units each semester. You may not take more than 16 units in a semester unless you obtain permission from the MBA Program Director.

Time in Candidacy
|
|
| |
The full-time MBA program extends over two academic years. You must register for a minimum of eight units and pay registration fees in both the Fall and Spring semesters of each academic year (for a total of four semesters). You must complete all work within two years from starting the program, unless you receive approval to withdraw for one or more semesters, or are enrolled in a concurrent-degree program.
If you fall below the normal load of units, either because you fail a course or choose to take a lower load, you will need to take an overload in a subsequent semester.
Summer Session courses can be used to meet your 51-unit graduation requirement. However, registration in Summer Session cannot be used to satisfy the four-semester requirement.
If you leave the University with one or more incomplete courses, you have seven years from the date you started the program to complete them. However, you may have to be readmitted and pay full fees, including out-of-state tuition, if applicable.

Payment of Fees
|
|
| |
You must pay your registration fees (either in full or the first installment) no later than August 15 for the Fall semester and January 15 for the Spring semester. Late payments are subject to a late payment fee. Failure to receive a billing statement does not relieve you of the responsibility to pay your fees on time.
First-year student exception: During the Fall semester of your first year, you may pay your registration fees during Orientation Week and you will not be charged a late payment fee.
The Deferred Payment Plan allows you to pay your fees in five equal installments of 20% each semester, with the first payments due August 15 and January 15. A non-refundable participation fee will be assessed to your account. Please do not pay the participation fee until it is billed. Any financial aid you may receive cannot be credited to your account until you are enrolled for classes and have cleared any holds.
For more detailed information on fee payment, please go to: http://registrar.berkeley.edu/Registration/feepaymentinfo.html.
If you are receiving federal loans or Haas scholarships and have questions about paying your fees, see the Haas Financial Aid Administrator or go to http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/MBA/finaid/. Other questions can be directed to the MBA Program Office.

Minimum Grade-Point Average (GPA)
|
|
| |
All MBA students are expected to maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 for continued participation in the program and graduation. If your GPA falls below the minimum, you will be placed on academic probation by the Graduate Division. Students who do not bring their grade-point average up to the minimum may be dismissed. The MBA Program Director and the Director of Academic Affairs are available to help students in academic difficulty develop a study plan to improve their grades. See also Brasch Tutoring Program.
