Student Judicial Affairs


Student Judicial Affairs (a component of the Office of Student Life) works to promote and maintain a high degree of academic integrity and standard of conduct. They preserve the standards set forth by the Berkeley Code of Conduct by investigating and resolving complaints of student violations, both academic and non-academic. Berkeley Code of Conduct


The Code of Student Conduct articulates the University's expectations regarding standards of conduct, both academic and with respect to the rights of others. These regulations, which apply to both undergraduate and graduate students, are intended to resolve student conduct matters in an informal administrative setting consistent with due process standards. They apply to students as individuals, as members of organizations, and to the student organizations themselves, where appropriate. The proceedings described are separate from criminal or civil proceedings which may arise from identical circumstances and which apply to students as citizens at large. Except under exceptional circumstances, student conduct proceedings shall not be deferred on the grounds that civil or criminal proceedings are pending, nor will they be subject to challenge on the ground that charges involving the same incident have been dismissed or the outcome determined in favor of the student.
