Faculty involved in government affairs
Since 1898, Berkeley's business school faculty members have played a strong role in state and federal government affairs. Faculty members who have worked in government in recent years include:
- Michael Katz was deputy assistant attorney general for economic analysis in the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, and former chief economist at the Federal Communications Commission.
- Carl Shapiro also served as the chief economist for antitrust in the Justice Department.
- Laura Tyson served as President Clinton's chair of the National Economic Council.
- Jim Wilcox served as the chief economist at the Office of the Comptroller of Currency.
- David Levine was senior economist on the Council of Economic Advisers
- Former Dean Tom Campbell was a U.S. Congressman for five terms, a California State Senator for one term, and recently served as director of finance for the State of California.
