Federal Loans FAQ's
My loans haven't been credited in CARS yet. Why?
Before your loans can be credited in CARS, they must first disburse from the financial aid system. Log on to BearFacts, and from the Financial Aid menu, select "Award Summary."
If your loans do not show as disbursed, make sure that you have done the following:
- Accepted your loans on BearFacts
- Completed the online Entrance Counseling
- Completed the Master Promissory Note
- Enrolled in at least 6 units
NOTE: It can take up to 48 hours for your registration information to be uploaded into the Financial Aid system. - Ensure that there are no blocks on your account. (In BearFacts, go to the Registration Menu, and select "registration blocks"
If all the above have been satisfied, and your loans still do not show as having disbursed from the Financial Aid system, contact Haas School's Office of Financial Aid.
If your loans show as having disbursed from the financial aid system, you can then check to see the status in CARS (from the CARS menu in BearFacts, select "Award Summary). Please note, that only the amounts that have been credited towards tuition and fees will show here. if you have borrowed loan funds that exceed what is needed to pay your fees and tuition, that amount will not be displayed in the CARS Award Summary. Contact the Haas School's Office of Financial Aid if you have questions about the disbursed amount in CARS.
