Federal Loans FAQ's
How do I accept my loan offer?
Federal Direct Subisidzed/Unsubsidized Loans are accepted on-line at BearFacts. You will need to have your UC Berkeley SID and passphrase to log-on. The address is: http://sis.berkeley.edu/bearfacts.
Once you have logged on, select “Financial Aid” from the tabs at the top of the page.
Please note: The offer letter is only accessible from 7 am – 7 pm Monday through Saturday, and from 12 pm – 7 pm on Sunday.
- Select “Financial Aid Offer Letter” and the year 2007-08.
- Enter your Social Security Number, as prompted.
- An Acknowledgement page will appear. Review and click on agree.
- The next page that appears will have a message in the main window, and a left menu bar. In the left menu bar, click on “Accept/Decline Awards.”
- (Step 1): Review your enrollment plans and make any necessary updates. Click on continue.
- (Step 2): Report outside resources, if any. Click on continue.
- (Step 3): Accept/Decline Awards: For each award you must do the following: Under “Action” choose “Accepted” and enter a dollar amount to accept any loans. To decline an award, choose “Decline” from the “Action” box. Click on continue.
- (Step 4): Loan/Work Study conversion. Haas Students are not eligible for this. Click on continue.
- Confirm your actions on “Activity Summary.” Review other actions or log off.
