Do I have to enroll in a certain number of units in order to be eligible to receive federal loans?

Yes.

You must be enrolled at least half-time (6 units) in order to receive federal loans. Please note that the unit requirement cannot be satisfied as a cummulative total for the year; it is a requirement for each semester.

ex: If you were enrolled in 9 units for the fall and 3 units for the spring you would only be eligible to receive federal loans in the fall semester, as your enrollment in the spring is less than 6 units.
