D.K. Kim Loan
Thanks to the generosity of the D.K. Kim Foundation, additional financial support in the form of an interest-free loan is available for full-time MBA students who are not able to participate in the U.S. Federal Loan programs. DK Kim Loan amounts are approximately $10,000. Funding levels will vary depending on the number of applicants and relative financial need. Only those full-time MBA students preparing to enter their second year of study at Haas are eligible to apply.
The deadline to apply is April 19, 2013. Complete the application online. A link will be provided here once the application is available.
The D.K. Kim Loan is interest-free. Recipients will be expected to repay their award over a 5-year repayment schedule, beginning six months after graduation. The repaid funds go on to provide similar support to future Haas students.
There is a community service requirement of 100 hours in lieu of any interest, which can include any documented volunteer work during your first year at Haas as well as volunteer work in your second year. The community service work used to meet the requirement cannot be the same work used to receive academic credit nor be work for which you were paid. Example of community service where past borrowers have volunteered include the following:
- Young Entrepreneurs at Haas (YEAH)
- Alameda Point Collective
- Challenge for Charity
- LGBT National Help Center
- St. Vincent de Paul, Dining Room
- Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program
