Haas Ph.D. Program
Centers & Professional Programs
Ph.D. students enjoy a wealth of research opportunities and forums for intellectual exchange. The research centers and programs within the Haas School and elsewhere on the Berkeley campus bring together faculty, students, outside scholars, and experts from a variety of departments and professions.
Center for Responsible Business
The Haas School's long tradition of exploring the ethical and social responsibilities of business is headquartered in the Center for Responsible Business. Topics such as strategic corporate social responsibility, social enterprise, stakeholder engagement, and business ethics are explored in a robust series of programs and through research, teaching, and experiential learning projects.
Institute of Management Innovation & Organization (IMIO)
IMIO encourages, promotes, and facilitates interdisciplinary research on matters of management, organization, policy and technology, especially as it relates to the impact of technological change, intellectual property regimes and competition on the economy and society. IMIO also supports related outreach and instructional programs that leverage its research strengths.
Institute of Business & Economic Research (IBER)
IBER facilitates faculty and graduate student research in economics and business. The Institute has established research centers in health economics, aging, competition policy, experimental economics, population, catastrophic risk management, and econometrics. IBER also has a small grants program for graduate student research.
Institute for Research on Labor & Employment (IRLE)
IRLE scholars have focused on a variety of ongoing and emerging issues in industrial relations. These include a long-term interest in studying workforce education, the impact of new technologies on work, new forms of organization that permit greater participation in decision making, and the blurring of distinctions between supervisors and employees.
The Center for Financial Reporting & Management The Center for Financial Reporting & Management brings together practitioners, faculty, and students around a broad range of issues associated with accounting. As accounting research has become more and more practitioner-oriented, the center focuses not only on traditional public accounting issues but also on related topics such as financial reporting and managerial accounting.
Clausen Center for International Business & Policy The Clausen Center supports the school's international initiatives by providing research grants to faculty studying international topics, hosting international visitors who collaborate with the Haas community, and sponsoring student-initiated seminars on regionally focused topics.
