Ph.D.Program

Jennifer Kurkoski
Organizational Behavior and Industrial Relations
BA, mathematics and organizational studies,
The Evergreen State College
After careers in both non-profits and Internet companies, Jennifer Kurkoski realized she was more interested in the process rather than the content of her work.
"I recognized that asking questions was more important to me than launching products," she says.
Now Kurkoski studies the effects of information technology and computer-mediated communication on organizations. "I've had the opportunity to explore areas of study that I didn't even know existed," says Kurkoski. "Being at Haas has provided me with the resources to explore my own interests, while helping me discover a wide range of other potential avenues for research."
Kurkoski was also drawn to the cooperative style of the Haas Ph.D. program. "Not only is the faculty extremely helpful and sincerely interested in working with doctoral students," says Kurkoski, "but the students are incredibly supportive of each other and are tremendous resources for research."
Kurkoski, now serving as the Ph.D. Association Community Service Chair,
also brings a diverse range of interests to the Haas community.
She learned Spanish while traveling in Central and South America,
sells some of the pottery that she creates, and in her spare
time, runs marathons.
