Overview
The Haas School Ph.D. Program offers six areas of concentration, for a curriculum of unusual richness and breadth. Since the program enrolls only 14 to 18 new Ph.D. students each year, students work very closely with the faculty members in their chosen specialties. This strong partnership, combined with the high intellectual caliber and diverse academic and cultural backgrounds of Haas School Ph.D. students, creates an atmosphere of close cooperation and intellectual excitement.
Although many students enter the program with a master's degree, others come directly from an undergraduate program. Completion of a master's degree is not a requirement for application.
The Ph.D. Program at the Haas School of Business offers various forms of financial assistance. Ninety-eight percent of students in the program receive significant support in the form of fellowships and grants, as well as opportunities for research and teaching assistantships.
The Haas School routinely places graduates of the Ph.D. Program as faculty members with top-notch academic institutions, including Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Chicago, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Positioned to lead the expansion and communication of knowledge, these graduates are well prepared to train future business leaders, pursue their own research interests, and make an impact on global business and education.
