  Haas Ph.D. Program

Individual Research
The research and writing of the dissertation constitutes the third and final part of the student's program. Upon completion of the oral examination, the student, in conjunction with the graduate advisor, selects a dissertation topic and dissertation committee. The latter is typically composed of three persons, one of whom must be from a department outside the business school. Within approximately six months, students are expected to present a paper on their chosen topic to a research seminar. This seminar presentation is held once the student's dissertation plan is complete and research results have been obtained.
