Business connections: The many linkages between the Haas School
and industry executives on the front edge of the information
revolution
Since 1994, the Fisher Center (formerly known as the Fisher
Center for Management and Information Technology) has developed research and
educational programs focused on some of the changes that the explosion in
corporate investments in information technology has had on the practice of
management. The Center has been successful on several dimensions. First, the
Center has been able to recruit an industry advisory board consisting of leading
members of the business community whose businesses are directly impacted by
changes in information technology. Second, sponsoring companies have given the
Center a significant financial base, supplementing the generous endowment gift
given by Don Fisher, Founder and Chairman of The Gap. Third, the research
program, under the leadership of Professor Arie Segev, has produced a large
number of studies in the areas of EDI, procurement, electronic commerce,
business process reengineering, and the IT workplace.

before joining the e-commerce community and is now CEO of E.piphany, is the
Haas School’s new advisory board chair.
- John Doerr, Partner of Kleiner, Perkins, Caulfield, and Byers, and
