Developing a Strategy

The Haas School offers a variety of services to companies interested in recruiting our students. The following are just a sampling of the networking and recruiting opportunities available to you. To prepare your company's strategy:

The Basics

On-Campus Presentations
An effective presentation provides students with a strong sense of the objectives and career paths offered by your company. Because of UC Berkeley's academic calendar, we strongly urge fall presentations that target both first-year and second-year students. See Academic and Recruiting calendars.

On Campus Interviews
Conducting interviews on-campus is the most efficient and convenient way to meet Haas students. Our staff will help you with all of your logistical tasks. Our staff will even provide on-campus parking permits, lunches, and, if his schedule permits, a visit from Dean Campbell. On Campus Interviews Section.

Student Resumes
The Haas School publishes the resumes of its first- and second-year MBA students annually. Order Resume Books

Company-Specific Resume Collections
Resumes collected specifically for your company can be used to identify candidates for an off-campus process or as the first step towards on-campus interviews. Please see the On-Campus Interviews Section for further details.

Posting Jobs @ Haas
If you have specific positions available in your company at any time during the year, we invite you to post job descriptions at no cost on our password protected intranet for viewing by Haas students only. Posting is easy - just contact your Account Manager or visit our jobs page. To recruit Haas alumni, Click here.

Career Fairs
On-campus early evening Career Fairs are efficient and cost-effective ways to meet face-to-face with our students, both from the Full-time and Evening/Weekend MBA Programs. Please contact Rich Wong for further information.

Experienced Hiring
We are happy to help you staff your positions that require more industry experience than our average MBAs'. Our 900 part-time MBA students have deep industry experience and are reachable through our CareerNet jobs board; postings can be facilitated by your Account Manager. Our alumni have a wide range of experience and skills and are located all over the world. Go to www.haas.berkeley.edu/alumni to post jobs directly to them. [top of page]

Building Your Brand On Campus

Firm Nights
Firm nights are an ideal way to reach a targeted audience. These networking events are organized by student clubs and are industry- or job function-specific. This is a list of tentative Firm Nights for the upcoming recruiting season:

Fall 2008 Consulting
  Marketing
  Real Estate
  Healthcare/Biotech
  Finance

Spring 2009 Technology
  Net Impact
  Real Estate

Student Club Event Sponsorship
Students join campus clubs based on their industry, job function or geographic preferences. Clubs are an excellent way to identify the students that meet your employment needs. List of Student Clubs

Workshops and Panels
The job market moves rapidly, and the industry perspective is essential to keeping our students abreast of these changing trends. Participating in a skills workshop or a career panel is an excellent way to build your company's campus presence, while helping to develop tomorrow's leaders. Please let your Account Manager know if you are interested in participating.

Student Conferences
Student-led conferences are major events at the Haas School of Business. These events involve the business community as speakers and panelists on a variety of topics. Conference participants include MBA students, members of the business community, faculty, and staff. Three of our biggest conferences are Digital Media, Women in Leadership, and the Berkeley Asia Business Conference.

Student Visits
Inviting students to your workplace provides an excellent introduction to your company's culture. The Haas@Work program facilitates such visits.

Guest Lectures and Industry Topic Courses
Each year, students coordinate a number of industry-specific courses that require corporate participation to succeed. These classes cover cutting edge business topics and help prepare students to work in those industries. Representatives from your company can lead a case, offer timely insight into a real business problem, or share current research. Haas has a variety of Research Units and Faculty contacts who welcome contact. Course lists are available online as well.

Become a Corporate Sponsor
As a Corporate Sponsor, your firm can choose from a range of activates that go beyond the typical recruiting events to not only strengthen its campus brand but also connect with Haas faculty, staff and alumni. Annual events such as the Haaski Charity Golf Tournament, the Haas Gala in San Francisco, or the Menlo Circus Celebration in Menlo Park are superb, high visibility networking events. Or, you can get a jump on recruiting and meet our newly admitted students by sponsoring Orientation Week or one of our workshops that focuses on diversity and women's issues. For more information on how your company can raise its profile at Haas, contact your Account Manager or Megan Glasson, Associate Director of Corporate Relations.

Summer receptions
For full-time hiring, holding a reception during the summer before a student's final year is often a nice way to meet our students before they begin fall on-campus recruiting. Your Account Manager can help you reach out to students who are interning near your offices.

Promoting your events
All your recruiting activities are listed in CareerNet, our student intranet, where students can read about your company and sign up for your activities. Your account manager can help you further promote your event or opportunity to our student populations.

Get Your Haas Alumni Involved

Leveraging the Haas graduates within your firm is one of the easiest ways to strengthen the ties between your company and campus. To help you identify Berkeley MBAs, we can provide you with a list of graduates who currently list your company as their employer.

Alumni Industry Receptions
Alumni industry receptions provide an intimate setting for Haas graduates and current students to share their insights and experiences.

Sponsor a Consumption Function
Consumption Functions are student organized and hosted Haas school gatherings on Thursday afternoons. Sponsorship of a Consumption Function provides your company with an outstanding opportunity to reach the entire class in a relaxed and informal setting. For more information, contact your Account Manager or a club representative
