Evaluate → Explore → Prepare → Perform
Evaluate:
- Self-Assessment: a variety of analysis tools are available to students to help determine your career interests and skills. Career Leader, an online tool and Myers Briggs (MBTI) are the two most commonly used by MBA students.
Explore:
- Online Resource Library: CareerNet, Wetfeet Press,
Vault, Hoovers, One Source, Lexis Nexis and many more periodicals
and databases are available for students to learn about
different career paths and to help determine whether certain
industries might be a fit. CareerNet
is our internal recruiting database, loaded with company
information and contacts.
- Career Panels: Alumni return to campus frequently and are joined by industry experts to discuss what it's like to work in a specific field and to provide tips on the job search process. Second year students also host brown bag lunches in the fall to help first year students explore new industries.
Prepare:
- Career Management Conference: The Haas School takes
your job search very seriously, and during the break in
the fall semester, we set aside 2 days in October that are
devoted to career planning workshops and exercises. This
is a time to focus on your career planning process, without
the added challenge of your core courses. The comprehensive
program is co-taught by faculty, career consultants, and
career services staff.
- Resume Building: Career Advisors and Coaches provide workshops and one-on-one assistance to insure students successfully build targeted, professional resumes. These resumes are compiled into a Resume Book and are used by various hiring managers to help select students for interviews.
- Mock-Interviews: Video-taped simulated interviews and small group practice sessions are offered throughout your time at Haas, allowing you the opportunity to hone your interviewing skills.
Alumni Database: This online service allows students to search for alumni around the world in fields of interest. It will become your best networking tool!
