Dirk Freise MBA 00
Dirk has studied Business Administration in Hamburg before working in strategic market research. While studying at Berkeley with a focus in Entrepreneurship he founded handy.de together with two fellow-students. Handy.de soon became the market leader for mobile entertainment in Europe and was sold to the media powerhouse Bertelsmann. After the successful integration he founded blau Mobilfunk the first German discount MVNO – again with his two partners. Blau was sold to KPN (the Dutch telecom) in 2008. After handing over the baton to the internal successors Dirk follows his passion and invests in young tech start-up with his VC fund Shortcut Ventures. Of course his two longstanding partners are on board again.
