B-HAN Silicon Valley:
No Limit Hold'em Poker Championship

The Silicon Valley Chapter of the Haas Alumni Network hosted their 11th annual No Limit Hold'em Poker Championship. The event was held at the law offices of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto on January 15.

This is an event designed to raise funds for the BerkeleyHaas Annual fund. Players pay a registration fee to cover the cost of the event and they separately make a donation directly to the Annual Fund on the BerkeleyHaas website. There are no cash prizes and the game is not played for money. Attendees of this event donated or pledged in excess of $4,000 to the Annual Fund.

The event was a lot of fun for all and the following people placed: 1st William Chu, 2nd Victor Adint, 3rd Tim Cao, 4th Laurie Yan, 5th Anthony Ching. The top prize was a BerkeleyHaas Executive Education class and a championship jacket. Other prizes included tickets to the 17th Networking event at the Menlo Circus Polo Club, Haas gear, and amazing bags of goodies from WSGR.

The chapter so appreciates the support of WSGR that they have decided to donate much of the unexpected profit from the event to the BerkeleyHaas Annual fund in the name of WSGR. These excess funds were the result of unexpected event savings. The chapter generally prices events to come close to breakeven on cost.

The Chapter would like to express a great deal of appreciation to WSGR for supporting this event and so many others. Because of support from the firm through the use of their facilities for events, the Chapter is able to keep ticket prices lower while elevating the experience alumni have at events.
