Joey obtained his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at Cal in '69, and then went on to earn his MBA with emphasis in Operations Research. He was active in the Cal Crew as coxswain for the JV and continued to serve the team even in the first year of Grad School.

Joey initially worked for a commercial bank in the Philippines, but eventually founded a technology company in 1975 representing Hewlett-Packard and other major world players in the hardware and software business. He continues to be associated with companies doing similar business in information technology.

Joey has four children, two of whom graduated from schools in the USA. He lives in Makati (adjacent to Manila), Philippines and invites those Cal Alumni who have business or travel as tourists to visit with him.
