Jorge A. Viera, MBA 01 -- Venezuela jviera01@alumni.haas.org

Jorge currently serves as General Director of Chacao's City hall. Chacao is one of Caracas' five municipalities, and is considered the financial and business district in the capital with an annual budget of $100mm. Previous to that, Jorge worked in various capacities in the banking industry, first as a stock broker and the as a bond trader and portfolio manager at Vestcorpartners, a local investment bank with assets in excess of $1 billion and offices throughout Latin America and Miami. In 1995 he acquired a bankrupt brokerage house, turned it around and sold it in 1998 to a local bank in Caracas. During that period, as a partner of the firm, he focused on corporate finance and sales. Between 1996 and 1999 he was a board member of Notitarde, a local newspaper. Jorge also is director and holds equity in Cautus Networks, a web-based accounting software company based in Miami, Florida.

Jorge has an M.B.A. from Haas (2001), an M.S. in Finance from the I.E.S.A. (Caracas, 1996) and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Universidad Catolica Andres Bello (Caracas, 1993)

He enjoys running and reading finance and business literature.
