A CELEBRATION OF THE IMPACT AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF OUR ROCK STAR DEAN AND CHIEF PURPOSE OFFICER

"I am very proud to stand by Berkeley-Haas. Sometimes we forget that among all the world's institutions of public higher ed, Berkeley is in so many ways without peer, a beacon serving not just our own students but also as an inspiration elsewhere. There is great purpose in that, a purpose we all share." - Rich Lyons, BS 82

Honor Dean Lyons' legacy with a gift to support faculty at the Haas School of Business.

Before Rich Lyons was our rockstar dean and chief purpose officer, he began his career at Berkeley as an assistant professor of finance and economics. As an international finance professor, Lyons was a five-time recipient of the Cheit Award for Excellence in Teaching—the school's top teaching honor—and also won UC Berkeley's highest teaching award in 1998.

Your gift to the Dean Lyons Faculty Leadership Fund will honor the leadership and legacy of Dean Lyons and help the school recruit, retain and develop a new generation of faculty leaders—early and mid-career faculty who Question the Status Quo, have Confidence Without Attitude, are Students Always, and think and act Beyond Themselves.

Developing the research and careers of other up-and-coming young faculty is at the heart of our continued success as a top business school. The quality and expertise of our faculty and our research is directly correlated to the quality of our school. It is our goal to advance top faculty in these early and creative stages of their careers, and research funding is one key area in which Haas wants to attract philanthropic support. Our peer business schools can offer faculty six-figure annual budgets for research, which gives faculty much more leverage from their time through research assistants, special data and experimental facilities. Research funds will allow Haas to remain competitive, promote new innovative thinking and incentivize multi-disciplinary activities.

"Society as we most want it won't survive without great public education." - Rich Lyons, BS 82
