Thanksgiving has another meaning for us this week: we are thankful to you, our donors, for giving back to support our students and make Berkeley Haas one of the leading business schools in the world. Your generosity says a lot about how we've strengthened our school together over the years. View your impact in the new annual report for donors.
Your Alumni Community Thrives On Connections So Go Beyond Yourself
As you reflect this week about giving thanks, we encourage you to share your milestones and updates with your Haas network. Submit an alumni note to be listed in the next BerkeleyHaas magazine.

Social Impact Collective
The Collective is one of the Center’s initiatives aimed at facilitating and guiding members toward high impact choices on their philanthropy and impact investing. The 2018 program begins with a Discovery Weekend, followed by a custom built six week online program that helps members draft the first version of a dynamic social impact plan. Full details including the application can be found here. Contact Cathy Garza, FTMBA 89, Program Director, for more details: email@example.com.
The power of one another: Haas' social impact
As the holidays approach and we enter this season of sharing, we are inspired by how much our alumni give every day. We are a culture that confronts the biggest issues of the day, provides solutions that build healthy communities, and creates a lasting legacy for generations to come.
Dean's seed fund
From a new life to a true impact: Pedro Moura and Flourish
When he was 15, Pedro Moura,
EWMBA 18, immigrated to the US with his mother from Brazil to build a new life from scratch. His mother cleaned houses, worked as a babysitter, and did everything she could do to accomplish the goal of giving her children a better education. Pedro is dedicating his career to creating scalable solutions that tackle financial challenges experienced by underserved communities.
In a couple of weeks, Pedro will be releasing the Beta Version of his product, Flourish—a platform that rewards users for building better savings habits. This version is largely enabled by the Dean's Seed Grant.
"We are very thankful for the support of the Dean’s Seed Grant. It was humbling to have a panel of such distinguished individuals support the potential impact of Flourish. The Dean’s Seed Grant has allowed us to bring Flourish to life, validate the project, and begin to positively affect our community."
Additionally, Pedro has tapped into the Berkeley Haas Alumni Network, "We have a number of our alumni leading very exciting initiatives for Flourish at the largest Brazilian banks, Itaú and Bradesco. Both Stephan Krajcer, FTMBA 08, and Daniel Malandrin, FTMBA 05, have been generous and thoughtful in providing us with input, introductions, and opportunities for potential pilots in Brazil".
Thanks to the help of our generous supporters, students like Pedro Moura are able to validate their projects and begin prototyping. You can invest in students like Pedro by giving today.
