As a Berkeley Board Fellow, you will be matched to a nonprofit to serve as a Board member (non-voting) for eight months (Oct. '14 - May '15). The Fellows Program, previously strictly a graduate student Program, has a limited number of spots open to alumni and is ideal for those interested in creating positive social impact at the highest levels of an organization, expanding their network, and gaining valuable leadership experience. Haas' Center for Nonprofit and Public Leadership provides training and support. The application deadline is August 15.

Prof. David Levine Wins Research Competition
Haas School economist David I. Levine and his research team are one of three winners of the Random Controlled Trials competition sponsored by the Coalition for Evidence-Based Policy. The win provides the researchers with a $96,000 grant to help conduct a new study, "The Effects of OSHA Inspections: Results from a Natural Field Experiment."

California's landmark cap-and-trade system for regulating greenhouse gases could be vulnerable to price spikes and market manipulation says a study released by scholars affiliated with the Energy Institute at Haas, including Haas Professor Severin Borenstein. But the state's air-quality regulators can prevent that outcome with three straightforward reforms, the study says.
Serial Social Entrepreneur Priya Haji, MBA 03, Passes Away
Haas alumna Priya Haji, MBA 03, the co-founder of Free at Last, World of Good, and SaveUp, passed away unexpectedly on July 14. She was 44. The Priya Haji Memorial Fund has been established to benefit a student interested in entrepreneurship and social innovation.
