Thanks to a donation from the founders of Timbre Technologies, winner of the 1999 UC Berkeley Business Plan Competition, a new plasma screen and television keeps Haas students up-to-date on news and provides live feeds of Haas events. The 50-inch plasma screen in the Bank of America forum and television in the FIFO Café are tuned mainly to news channels. Timbre Technologies was founded by Nick Sturiale, MBA 00, and founding CEO; two UC Berkeley engineering Ph.D.s, Nickhil Jakatdar, Ph.D. 00, and Xinhui Niu, Ph.D. 99; and Junwei Bao, MS 00 (electrical engineering). Their gifts also supported the installation of information kiosks at the entrance of the Student Services Building , in Cheit Hall, and in the Bank of America Forum.
