Summer 2005

In Brief

Big Apple Office for Hiring Haas

The Haas School now has a career services account manager working out of an office in New York City to maximize opportunities for Haas students to connect with financial services firms.

Nicole Gehrmann, previously based at Haas as an account manager for the financial services and real estate industries, established the New York City office for the school in early 2005.

Due in part to Gehrmann's efforts, 18 new financial services firms interviewed on campus this year for the first time. They included Bank of America, Hahn Capital Management, AIG, Fidelity Ventures, and Perseus. In addition, several firms returned to Haas after a gap in recruiting, including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Citgroup.

When Dean Rich Lyons traveled to New York last February, he met with key recruiters and informed them of the new account manager. "I found that all of these firms were impressed and excited that we've dedicated an account executive to the finance market, on the ground, in New York," says Lyons. "With this move, we are clearly demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent support to east coast recruiters and giving them increased opportunities to hire Haas."
