William F. “Rick” Cronk, BS 65, was featured in the San Francisco Chronicle on July 28 in an article titled, Scooping the Competition. Cronk is president of Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream Inc., which announced a deal to allow food-giant Nestle SA to gain majority control of the company.

The New Yorker featured James Hong, MBA 99, on July 8 in an article titled, The talk of the town: The hot or not guys. The www.hotornot.com website, created by Hong and partner Jim Young, also earned these two entrepreneurs a place in Entertainment Weekly’s “It List” issue and promotional party.

Michael Milken, BS 68, appeared in the July 29 issue of The Australian in an article titled, Bad boys are back in business, about Milken’s new business venture, LeapFrog Enterprises. Milken also appeared in the Washington Post on July 28 on the same subject.

Intel President and COO Paul S. Otellini, MBA 74, was featured in the November 4 issue of Business Week magazine in the article, “No Nerd at Intel’s Top? Heresy!”

Internet World published an interview with Roger Siboni, BS 76, president and CEO of E.piphany, about his company’s success and growth.

The Daily Deal referred to Warren “Ned” Spieker, BS 66, as the “West Coast real estate czar” on July 31 in an article titled, California dreamin’. Spieker is the founder, former chairman, and CEO of Spieker Properties Inc., a real estate investment trust based in Menlo Park.

The Contra Costa Times featured Rob Schroder, BS 75, on July 24 in an article about his candidacy for Mayor of Martinez.

Doug Galen, BS 84, MBA 88, vice president of eBay, was quoted in a PC Magazine article on June 1 titled, Up, Up, and Away With eBay.

Michael Yang, MBA 95, was featured in The Daily Deal on June 13 in an article about NetGeo Inc. Yang is co founder and CEO of NetGeo.

Emilio Guemez, MBA 98, hosted an online chat session on July 30 for the Mexican newspaper, El Universal. Guemez, who is currently director of eBusiness for Banca Serfin, the third largest bank in Mexico, spoke on the issue of online banking.

Richard Blum, BA 58, MBA 59, founder and chairman of Blum Capital Partners LP, was profiled in the August issue of Bloomberg Markets magazine in an article titled, Zen and the Art of Stock Picking.

Dana Krelle, MBA 83, was featured in The Jerusalem Post on September 11 in the article, The Business Scene. Krelle has been appointed vice president of marketing for Mellanox Technologies, Ltd., a company that makes chips for high-end servers and devices based on the InfiniBand standard.

Burch LaPrade, MBA 99, co-founder and CEO of Brightroom, an event-photography business in Emeryville, Calif. that combines digital photography and the Internet, was featured in the September 23 issue of Newsweek Magazine, in an article titled, Be Your Own Master.
