                  Living in Berkeley

Surrounding the university campus is the city of Berkeley, with a multitude of coffee houses, micro breweries, shops, theaters, restaurants, and some of the best bookstores in the world. Berkeley is home to the world-famous Chez Panisse restaurant, where California cuisine was born. Students hold weekly social gatherings at a Bar of the Week in Berkeley or San Francisco, and take frequent weekend trips to nearby Napa Valley, Santa Cruz, Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite National Park.
