Departmental Overview
Utilizing a theoretical understanding of career services and of the real estate industry, the ACRE Program Manager & Real Estate Account Manager advises students/alumni on a full range of career processes involved with the real estate job search, including individual advising, career planning, setting career goals, improving job search competencies, networking and informational interviewing, and connecting with real estate professionals. Provides a holistic approach to student/alumni career counseling, develops and modifies workshops, presentations, and programs as necessary; and maintains relationships with potential employers, school admissions representatives, the Berkeley Real Estate Club (BREC), the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics, and other organizations to establish contacts to meet the career needs of students.
Responsibilities
• Provide career consulting to MBA and other real estate-focused graduate students in all phases of career development, from assessment, exploration, self-marketing materials and strategies to interviewing and salary negotiations.
• Counsel graduate students on career options and opportunities, including customized services for specific populations, namely, real estate-focused students.
• Track all real estate career-seeking students to ensure that each one is supported in their success.
• Help clients identify their interests, values, skills, and personalities, and understand how these factors relate to academic/career satisfaction and choices.
• Use standard quantitative and qualitative assessments to help clients assess career goals.
• Provide guidance to departments/colleges/schools on providing resources to meet students' career needs.
• Help with decision making, goal setting, and identifying internal/external obstacles to obtaining goals.
• Research, evaluate, communicate, and update written and electronic career and educational resources. Work closely with student and alumni clubs and the Fisher Center faculty to communicate about programs and contacts.
• Make sure all event details and deadlines are accurately entered into the appropriate databases. Track ACRE professional visits and students. Ensure that data stays current and fresh.
• Research and organize economic and employment trend data and designs materials for presentation to students and campus professionals.
Program Management:
• Creates, modifies and conducts workshops and presents programs to meet students' and staff members' needs.
• Schedule and manage numerous programs, including the Real Estate Teach-In, the Opportunities in Real Estate Forum, Real Estate Speaker Series, the Professionals in Residence Program, mentorship program visits, networking events, Policy Advisory Board events, Real Estate Firm Night, and the activities of ACRE student workers.
• Engage with other Career Services initiatives such as advising, brown bags, and the Career Management Conference. Support faculty and BREC initiatives as a key liaison to Career Services for real estate.
External Relations:
• Develop and maintain program vision and communicate it to industry professionals
• Develop and implement marketing and outreach programs to promote programs and services. Target prospective students and the real estate community.
• Maintain and enhance relationships with corporations and other organizations to develop and modify potential employer resources, and promote external relations with the campus relating to career services for students and alumni.
• Work with senior industry professionals to secure their participation in program components
• Establish and maintain relationships with industry recruiters and bring them to campus to present corporate information and interview students.
• Increase school’s visibility in the real estate community by attending and participating in real estate networking events, including those of the Urban Land Institute and NAIOP.
• Other duties or projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
• Advanced knowledge of career development tools, advising process, career decision making and job search techniques.
• Knowledge of workshop and program design.
• Knowledge of UC programs, career services, employer, alumni, and faculty needs and expectations, recruiting and staffing methods, and real estate employment trends.
• Presentation skills, verbal communication, written communication, and organization skills.
• Ability to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Strong knowledge of, or prior business experience in the real estate industry and/or strong career advising experience with some exposure to the fields of real estate development and finance.
• Experience managing student groups, external teams, or volunteers and persuading a variety of personalities to collaborate on projects.
• Track record of delivering services to customers in a timely and accurate manner
• Strong customer service orientation: Experience in a customer service environment; enjoy working with a variety of customers with various needs, including students and employers.
• Exposure to senior executives and MBAs
• Marketing experience
• Ability to manage several simultaneous activities and can manage in a chaotic environment with multiple interruptions
• Ability to adjust priorities to accommodate changes in the marketplace
• Use judgment to identify exceptions, solve problems, and implement solutions
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Superior interpersonal skills
• Extensive networking skills; comfort interacting with executives in person and over the phone.

• Basic data and information management
• Proficiency in MS Office, Access, and comfort working with contacts and scheduling databases
Education/Training:
• MBA preferred.
• Experience in the business of real estate.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics or a similar real estate academic research center.
• Experience developing and executing student-focused real estate career educational programs
• Deep network in the Bay Area real estate community, including Berkeley MBA alumni
• Facility with MBA Focus system or similar career services enterprise software system.
• Member of Urban Land Institute, NAIOP
Salary & Benefits
The salary will be prorated at 50% of the full-time range of $46,200 up to $60,300.
