Departmental Overview
This Behavioral Research Lab coordinator position involves supporting faculty and doctoral students in their behavioral research and spearheading their efforts to launch the new Behavioral Research Lab at Haas. While the lab is being constructed, the research coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all conference room reservations involving behavioral research. Once the lab is opened, the coordinator will establish and carry out guidelines for allocating time and human subject credit hours to involved faculty and students. The research coordinator will administer the human subject research pools created for several undergraduate courses at Haas (scheduling experiments, distributing credit, payment, and “no show” penalties to research subjects, supervising and/or participating in data entry). The research coordinator will also create and maintain a separate paid subject pool, involving both on-site and internet-only experiments.
Responsibilities
BEHAVIORAL LAB ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT:
Manages, plans and administers a range of administrative activities for the (behavioral lab), which may include some of the following functions: finance, facilities, student services, human resources, communications, informational technology. Provides consultation to researchers in designing research experiments. Coordinates scheduling of lab experiments for faculty and graduate student researchers, providing procedural instruction and working checklists. Assists researchers in preparing project budgets. Provides orientation to new researchers and provides guidance on human subjects.
BEHAVIORAL LAB FISCAL MANAGEMENT:
Gathers and analyzes financial and other resource data; prepares reports or analyses of operational activities, evaluation of current and proposed services, etc., for internal/external constituencies' review and decision-making.
Develops and prepares budgets and financial reports for funding which may be complex.. Organizes and oversees subject payment system, reconciles fund balances and tracks payout limits to participants. Verifies that all payout vouchers are submitted and reimbursed to proper account with proper separation of duties.
Performs studies for resource plans, including approaches, trends sources and uses. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes financial and HR reports.
HUMAN SUBJECTS REVIEW:
Communicates directly with investigators to resolve all concerns as identified during the review process. Communicates with researchers and provides guidance on how to resolve particular issues of concern and meet requirements of external regulatory bodies and to properly document these actions in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related area (preferably psychology) and/or equivalent experience/training
• Human Subjects and HIPAA Training
• One - two years of equivalent experience
• One - two years demonstrated experience in Experimentation
• Working knowledge of computer application programs
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing
• Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding time frames
• Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality
• Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns
Preferred Qualifications
• Working knowledge of common campus-specific computer application programs.
Salary & Benefits
The salary for this full-time, one-year career position will range between $42,000 annually up to $58,800, plus benefits.
