The Senior Associate Director of Full-time MBA Admissions will share many responsibilities with the admissions committee, including evaluating hundreds of applications annually, recommending admission decisions from a highly competitive applicant pool, and traveling domestically and internationally to represent the Berkeley Haas program at recruiting and yield events.

In addition to the above shared responsibilities, the Senior Associate Director will lead several other key initiatives for the full-time MBA admissions team:

  • Develop and drive strategy for diversity recruiting, selection, and yield. Partner with key stakeholders in the Haas community to implement and measure impact.
  • Manage the interview strategy, process, and extended team of student and alumni interviewers.
  • Directly manage and develop a small team of admissions staff.
  • Manage one or more of the following admission initiatives, subject to prior experience and qualifications: marketing, communication, customer service, events, travel strategy, and/or operations.

As a senior member of the admissions team, and thus part of the management team, the individual will also contribute to the development of the overall strategic plan for full-time MBA admissions, manage implementation of assigned elements, and serve as a senior admissions liaison for cross-departmental initiatives. This position reports to the Executive Director and will have frequent interaction with the Assistant Dean and senior staff across the organization.

Required Qualifications


  • Extensive knowledge of the graduate admissions process, including recruitment, selection, and yield.
  • Strong passion for furthering diversity recruitment, including an understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with recruiting candidates from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated effectiveness in public speaking and presenting.
  • Self-starter. Able to work independently, multi-task effectively, and foster teamwork. Ability to work remotely, seasonally, while maintaining high levels of productivity, accountability, and communication with team and stakeholders.
  • High level of political and personnel management acumen. Ability to maintain confidentiality, objectivity, sensitivity, discretion, professionalism, and exercise good judgment and tact.
  • Experience managing relationships with external partners.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  • An analytic mindset that utilizes data and research to inform decision-making.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, primarily between May and September.
  • Willingness to work occasional nights or weekends, primarily for admissions event staffing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of graduate admissions experience, preferably at a top tier institution and/or with business school candidates.
  • 2+ years of experience working on diversity focused initiatives.
  • MBA or other graduate degree.
  • People management experience.
