75% - The Events Manager works closely with the full-time MBA admissions team to plan, manage, and execute over 100 local and global admissions events annually, with the aim of recruiting and yielding prospective MBA students to Berkeley Haas. Events range in size, scope, and location. This position has the most direct and frequent interaction with the (1) admissions committee, (2) alumni and (3) current students.

Typical admissions events include:

  • Berkeley Haas recruitment events for prospective MBA students.
  • Multi-school and fair recruitment events for prospective MBA students.
  • Admitted student weekends.
  • Interview days.
  • Visitor days.
  • Diversity days.
  • Small group coffee chats, receptions, and dinners.
  • Event planning, management, and execution responsibilities include:
    • Event project management.
    • Venue research and selection.
    • Contract negotiation.
    • Vendor management (catering, supplies, transportation, hotel, etc.).
    • Registration and attendance tracking.
    • Alumni volunteer outreach and database tracking.
    • Event budget management and tracking.
    • Satisfaction survey administration.
    • On-site attendance at all on-campus events and some Bay Area events.

25% - Additionally, some administrative tasks associated with this position may include purchasing and expense reconciliation, booking travel, expense reimbursement, and office supplies and swag management.

Depending upon capacity and interest, the Events Manager may also support the planning and execution of other events such as webinars, chats, campus visitation program, Haas holiday party, staff farewell parties, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of event management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience providing high level of customer service.
  • Attention to detail while managing shifting priorities.
  • Accurate record keeping and organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills for successful outcomes in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and be proactive especially in problem solving.
  • Proven ability at utilizing resources and seeking clarification and/or instructions to maximize efficiency, particularly while working independently with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to work some nights and/or weekends, as the event schedule requires.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of event management experience.
  • Some knowledge of UC Berkeley's systems: Bear Buy, Travel and Entertainment, and Connexxus.

Salary & Benefits

$65,000-75,000 annually.
