About the Position

The Business Development and Marketing Associate is responsible for providing important administrative and tactical business and marketing operations support to the Business Development and Marketing teams. The Associate's primary responsibilities include lead generation, proposal development, and sales funnel management enabling effective sales and BD efforts. This is a full-time, exempt position located in Berkeley, CA.


Business Development:

  • Analyzes website and email stats, and lead history to better qualify leads and optimize customer touch points.
  • Measures results and helps optimize the lead nurturing workflows to convert leads into opportunities.
  • Supports the completion of Powerpoint proposals for custom program clients by creating and updating decks and analyzing RFPs/RFIs; manages resource bank of custom proposals.
  • Conducts pipeline and opportunity analysis on industries, revenue contribution, and impact of territory changes in order to inform strategic business decisions.
  • Develops analytics with BD team to understand how marketing activity turns into SQLs, and continually refines process to convert customers.
  • Manages Key Account and Territory change process coordinating ExecEd and Haas resources with Salesforce; assigns custom leads to BD team.
  • Stays abreast of UC Berkeley faculty research and briefs sales team on topics and accomplishments that might appeal to clients.


  • Supports marketing automation and lead nurturing processes through email, content curation, social channels, and usability testing.
  • Aids in lead generation by analyzing and optimizing website calls-to-action, landing pages, and content.
  • Segment lists based on behaviors like past email engagement, events, webinars, and website interactions.
  • Collaborates with team as needed on social media, email campaigns, usability testing, website updates, and vendor management.
  • Works with vendors to create marketing collateral (flyers, website, proposal decks).

Desired Software Tools:

  • Salesforce
    • Generating and building reports, applying filters, utilizing filter logic.
    • Coordinating searches, merging duplicate records, supporting integrity of data.
    • Monitoring, analyzing, providing recommendations for improving workflows.
  • Hubspot, Marketo or other funnel software
    • Management and optimization of social media & email campaigns.
    • Tracking of statistics and applying findings.
  • Google Analytics, Google Adwords, Moz, CMS, SQL or Access.
  • Website development software (DRUPAL).
  • Proposal development experience in Powerpoint.


  • At least 2 years of experience in a sales or professional services organization. Bachelor's Degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience and training.
  • A strong customer service mindset. An efficient problem-solver with excellent judgment and decision-making skills, initiative, and flexibility.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the highest level of attention to detail and deadlines. Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to balance ever-changing special projects with ongoing job responsibilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including political acumen. Able to quickly and easily build strong relationships with diverse audiences including working with a broad range of stakeholders, including international executives and university faculty members.

Salary & Benefits

The UC Berkeley Executive Education offers a competitive compensation package, including medical/dental/vision/insurance, 401k, vacation leave, sick leave and 16 paid holidays. Salary is commensurate with experience.
