D.K. Kim Revolving Grant for Full-Time MBA Students
Thanks to the generosity of the D.K. Kim Foundation, additional financial support in the form of revolving grants will be available for full-time MBA students who are not able to participate in the U.S. federally assisted loan programs. The Revolving Grants are one-year awards, and in the past have ranged from $2,000 to $25,000 per year. Funding levels will vary depending on the number of applicants and relative financial need, with up to twenty applicants being selected annually. Eligible applicants are limited to those students preparing to enter their second year of study at Haas.
The D.K. Kim Revolving Grant is similar to an interest-free loan; recipients of the Grant will be expected to repay their award, interest-free, over a 5 to 10-year repayment schedule, beginning six months after graduation. The repaid funds go on to provide similar support to future Haas students. Additionally, for each year a student is a recipient of the grant, she/he will be expected to perform at least 50 hours of community service volunteer work during that year of study. The community service work used to meet the requirements of the Grant cannot be the same work used to receive academic credit nor be work for which you were paid.
Applications will be made available on this site in early spring. As part of the application, you will be asked to provide the following:
- Student's resources
-
Family and Sponsor Resources
-
UC Resources
-
Other/External Resources
-
Answer an essay question as to why you are applying for the D.K. Kim Revolving Grant
-
Discuss the efforts you have made to secure supplemental funding, and elaborate on any special circumstances or hardships you currently have.
Those selected as meeting the eligibility criteria will be forwarded to the D.K. Kim Foundation for approval, with students being notified of final decisions mid-May.
