Scholarship Opportunities

Opportunities for 2nd year Students

Although the Haas School does not make any new awards to students entering their second year of study, there are still plenty of opportunities available to help students cover the cost of their education and reduce their dependence on loans.

Graduate Student Instructorships

Many graduate student instructorships (GSI's) are available to second-year students in several fields, especially accounting, economics, and communications. GSI's not only receive a salary, but dependending upon the appointment percentage, can be eligible for a partial fee remission. For Spring Semester, 2007 the amount of the fee remission was $4,300--which covered the University Registration Fee, Educational Fee, and Health Insurance Fee.

You should apply for the GSI positions in the spring of your first year. If you have significant training in a specialized area, you may also find employment as a reader or tutor. More information about the GSI program at Haas, including how to apply, can be found on the Haas School's Official GSI Website.

Outside Scholarship Opportunities

There are a number of scholarships available to students from outside organizations. The Haas School has created a Scholarship Database to assist in locating and researching funding opportunities. The database is searchable by category, text and application deadline. Students are also encouraged to refer to our additional scholarship search resources page.
