Haas School Accepting Nominations for New Dean
The University of California at Berkeley invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Walter A. Haas School of Business. The position is available on July 1, 2008. The closing date for applications is January 31, 2008.
With a renowned Faculty and an acclaimed facility, the Haas School of Business is a world-recognized center for business education and research. The school seeks a Dean with an outstanding record of distinction in academia, business or government, suitable for a tenurable position at Berkeley, and a commitment to intellectual and professional excellence. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership qualities, will be skilled in attracting and retaining distinguished faculty, will be collegial, and will be able to interact effectively with the campus administration, business, government, foundations, students and alumni. The Dean is expected to take a leadership role in ongoing School and Campus development programs.
The Dean has responsibility for the academic and administrative operations of the School. The School offers four degrees in six distinct programs: a Ph.D. in business administration, an M.B.A. (full-time and evening/weekend programs, plus an executive program with partner Columbia University), a Masters in Financial Engineering (M.F.E.), and a B.S. in business administration (an upper-division major). The School has plans to launch a Master in Professional Accountancy in summer 2009. In addition to these programs, Haas participates in a growing portfolio of non-degree executive education programs and cooperates in a number of concurrent-degree programs with other departments across the Berkeley campus.
