Gap Inc. CSR Scholars: Application




Applications will only be accepted from candidates already granted acceptance into the Full-time Haas MBA program. Applications materials must be received by 5:00 PM (PDT) on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 and may be sent to Katharine Brewer's attention at kbrewer@haas.berkeley.edu.


Recipients of the scholarship will be notified in mid-April.




Please include the following information in your application:


1. Personal Information - Please include the following information at the top of the first page of your application materials: Full Name, Mailing Address, City/State/Zip Code, Country (if not USA ), Contact Phone Number, and Email.


2. Essay Questions - The Gap Inc. CSR Scholars Program is a unique educational opportunity, which provides for the development of a new generation of business leaders who seek to understand the power of business to create a better world and to integrate this vision into their careers and businesses. Please answer the following essay questions regarding your CSR experience and aspirations. Include your name at the top of each additional page.

A. Please describe how your life experiences make you well suited to become a Gap Inc. CSR Scholar. These could be professional, community, or extracurricular activities that may or may not be reflected on your resume. (500 words maximum)


B. What does corporate responsibility (CSR) mean and why is it important to you? (500 words maximum)


C. What do you hope to achieve professionally and how will Haas, the Center for Responsible Business, and the Gap Inc. CSR Scholars Program help you achieve these aspirations? (500 words maximum)

 

3. Resume - Please include an up-to-date version of your resume or curriculum vitae.


In addition, the selection committee will review portions of your application to the MBA program at Haas, including letters of recommendation, answers to essay questions, transcripts, and test scores. The selection committee is composed of Center staff and faculty, Haas alumni, and Gap Inc. executives.




If accepted as a Gap Inc. CSR Scholar, recipients agree to complete at least six units of CSR-related electives coursework and complete an independent CSR-focused consulting project for Gap Inc.
