Berkeley CA -
Kellie McElhaney, executive director of the
Center
for Responsible Business and adjunct assistant professor
& John C. Whitehead Faculty Fellow in Corporate Responsibility
at UC Berkeley’s Haas
School of Business, was named a 2005 Faculty Pioneer for
Institutional Impact by the biennial report – Beyond
Grey Pinstripes.
The
Beyond Grey Pinstripes’ Faculty Pioneer Awards –
released by World Resources Institute and the Aspen Institute
– identify exceptional scholars and excellent teachers
who are leading the way in incorporating social and environmental
issues into their teaching and research.
By founding the Center in 2003, McElhaney was lauded by the
panel of corporate judges as an agent of change who has placed
corporate responsibility squarely as one of the core competencies
and competitive advantages of the Haas School of Business.
“In her short
tenure at Haas, Kellie has had tremendous impact on students
across all our degree programs,” echoed Haas School
Acting Dean, Richard Lyons. “Her contributions in developing
a comprehensive teaching program, corporate outreach, and
research in corporate social responsibility have been crucial
to the school.”
In addition to identifying Faculty Pioneers, Beyond Grey Pinstripes
is the only global survey that evaluates MBA programs for
their efforts to prepare graduates on social and environmental
stewardship in business. The Haas School of Business placed
11th in the report out the Top 30 MBA programs.
“I am extremely honored to have received this award
and recognition, and I could not be as successful as I have
been to individually win this award in any place but Haas,”
said McElhaney.
“I benefit
from the perfect mix: a talented, energetic, and awesome Center
team; a committed, generous, and supportive donor, Mike Homer;
a school that is built on the Haas family values, which personify
CSR; leadership and support from Deans who believe in the
value of the CSR work that I do; and tirelessly committed,
engaged, and demanding business school students. I am very
lucky to have married my passion with my work.”
In addition to McElhaney, five other Faculty Pioneers from
leading business schools were also recognized.
