Teaching

The Haas School of Business has a long tradition of exploring and teaching about the ethical and social responsibilities of business. In the core curriculum, all Haas students are exposed to the complex issues of a corporation's role and responsibility to society beyond simply maximizing shareholder value.

The Center also offers a robust series of CSR-focused elective courses that range in topics from ethics, stakeholder engagement, and social entrepreneurship. Included in this series is one of the country's most innovative courses - Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility & Projects - a unique classroom experience that connects students with corporate executives to develop strategies that create competitive advantage through positive social impact. Taught at both the MBA and Undergraduate levels, the Strategic CSR & Projects course provides students with the opportunity to put newly learned CSR theories into practice tackling real-world problems.

Tom Campbell

“The country and the world are demanding to know if recent lapses in business ethics and corporate integrity are symptomatic of a systemwide failure. The Haas School has made teaching and research into these areas a top priority in order to answer this question and to take a leading role in the effort to discover ways to correct the problems.”
