LifeScan Community Relations Graduate Fellows Program
Get hands on. Now.
The LifeScan Graduate Fellows Program is a year-long fellowship program for two second-year Haas MBA students and provides Haas MBAs the unique opportunity to work with a global business leader in the healthcare industry. The program is sponsored by the Center and LifeScan, Inc. (Milpitas, CA), a Johnson & Johnson company dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with diabetes.
The two-part program was designed to allow the Fellows an opportunity to first complete a paid internship with LifeScan’s Global Internal Communications and Community Relations (GIC/CR) group during the summer between their first and second year of MBA study. Following the internship and during their second year of the MBA program, the Fellows will work part-time in LifeScan’s GIC/CR group on a variety of projects while also pursuing their graduate business course work.
Fellows will have opportunities to engage in a variety of activities*:
- Become integrally involved in corporate social responsibility initiatives
- Interact with and present ideas to LifeScan senior-level management
- Work on internal and external communications related to Community Relations initiatives
- Serve as internal communications liaison for clients of Community Relations (i.e.,
Employee Diversity Groups, Women’s Leadership Initiative, Employee Contributions Campaign) - Draft copy and assist with production of LifeScan’s Social Responsibility Report
- Write articles on corporate social responsibility for company web sites and publications
- Grow employee engagement and expand initiatives globally
- Organize volunteer events at local non-profit organizations to foster strategic team building
- Contribute to global strategic initiatives such as global health through the Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Institute
- Be involved in a unique network of fellow students, graduates, universities, and LifeScan Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) professionals
* Responsibilities may vary depending upon which area within Global Internal Communications/Community Relations the Fellow is assigned.
