International Study Additional Information for Haas Applicants

Information for Prospective Haas applicants (updated as of May 2008)
Newly admitted business majors are required to complete 5 units of UGBA core courses in the summer, and 9 units of UGBA core courses in the Fall per the required core business course sequencing. Therefore students should not plan to study abroad in the summer or Fall term of their first year. http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/Undergrad/core.html

If you are admitted to Haas and are attending a study abroad program during the Spring term of the application cycle, be mindful that you will be required to begin the start of the Haas Undergraduate Program in July. Students who do not attend the start of the program are subject to cancellation.

Study Abroad Before Admittance into Haas
If you plan to study abroad before your possible admission into Haas, please review the information on Course Selection for your appropriate program (EAP or Non-EAP.) If you plan to study abroad the Spring semester before your start at Haas, you MUST complete your minimum eligibility courses prior to time abroad. Courses from abroad for the Spring semester will not post quickly enough to be considered for the admissions evaluation.

Major Declaration Requirement
It is important to remember that students are usually expected to have a major prior to studying abroad. Please check with your current college (L & S, for example) regarding this requirement. Many students plan to study abroad during their junior year, often the first semester at Haas. If this is your plan, we encourage you to prepare for a back-up major. This way, you may be able to participate in the international program even if you are not admitted to the Haas School. .

Notifying Haas of Your Intent to Study Abroad
Applicants to Haas who wish to study abroad are expected to follow the guidelines on this website, use the International Study Form (Acrobat PDF), and meet with the International Study Advisor for the Haas Undergraduate Program.
