Research (see below for description of topics, my collaborators, abstracts)

My current research looks at the role institutions play in society and, in particular, regulatory institutions.

A major focus of this research is the role that institutions play in providing credibility to regulatory and other policies.
I also study how regulations arise and how these regulations, in turn, affect the incentives of business.

1) Abstracts from Recent Publications by Topic:

2) Published Books

3) Current working papers

4) World Bank and Other Manuscripts

5) My Bi-weekly column in El Cronista Comercial, Buenos Aires Argentina (In Spanish only)

From February 2001 until May 2003 I have been writing a bi-weekly column in El Cronista Comercial, a leading financial

newspaper in Argentina.  My columns dealt with how I saw regulatory and institutional issues in Argentina,

but I also indulged in some commentary about global issues.

Consulting

I work with both businesses and institutions as a consultant. Some of the organizations I have worked with include:

The Federal Trade Commission, the World Bank,  the Department of Transportation, the SIGET - El Salvador's Regulatory Agency,

the SIT - Guatemala's Telecom regulator, The Mexico Energy Regulation Commission,  the Mexico Antitrust Commission,

the United Nations, and the Central Bank of Uruguay.
